Pakistan’s Olympic gold medallist Arshad Nadeem finished fourth in the men’s javelin throw final at the 2026 Asian Games, failing to secure a medal despite recording a season-best throw of 80.29 metres.
Competing in Nagoya, Japan, Nadeem struggled to deliver consistent performances, with four of his six attempts ruled invalid. His best effort of 80.29 metres came during the competition but was insufficient to earn him a place on the podium.
Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage clinched the gold medal with an impressive throw of 88.55 metres, securing the country’s first Asian Games gold in the men’s javelin throw.
India’s Yashvir Singh claimed the silver medal with a throw of 85.72 metres, while his compatriot Rohit Yadav secured bronze with an effort of 84.35 metres.
Nadeem, who won the Olympic gold medal at Paris 2024 with a record-breaking throw of 92.97 metres, was unable to reproduce that form in Nagoya.
The result saw the Pakistani athlete miss out on an Asian Games medal, while Pathirage, Singh and Yadav occupied the podium positions.
